Laura: Co-Founder & Pilates Geek
A keen athlete, Laura taught herself to swim at the age of 24 in a 12 metre pool. She soon began entering triathlons until a severe back injury prevented her from pursuing her favourite hobby. In a bid to self- heal, Laura discovered Pilates and went on to fully train as a Pilates teacher herself. Her vision was to spread this knowledge, and share preventative measures from injury and poor health... which led to the birth of the Healthy Start Holidays.
Born and bred in Brighton, Laura originally trained as an economist, travelling the world on interesting assignments until eventually settling in Barcelona.

Rik: Co-Founder & Bike Nerd
Rik is a cycling enthusiast with an insatiable appetite for food. He has worked with bicycles for the last fifteen years, as a bike messenger in Amsterdam and Brussels and as a bicycle tour guide and mechanic in Barcelona.
Cycling 80km a day as a young bike messenger, Rik learnt to listen to the nutritional needs of his body. He quickly moved away from quenching his thirst with sugary sodas, switching to water instead. He's never eaten as many vegetables as since he met Laura - and says he's never felt better for it.
Rik has won several 24-hour bike races, notably cycling 480km across Holland, completing a messenger-task in each of the 7 cities he visited along the way.
He makes a mean breakfast smoothie, and can play guitar while balancing on a fixed-gear bike. You gotta see it to believe it!
Ian: Chief Coach & Body Guru
Coach Ian is a triathlete fanatic and all-round sportsman. Ian took the silver medal in the 2012 triathlon World Championships, and has taught boxing at an elite level. He loves to train; as much with total newbies as with expert sportspeople.
On first name terms with every muscle in the human body, Ian is a highly qualified and experienced ‘Body Master’ providing a variety of massage, stretching and rehabilitative exercises for prevention and rehabilitation from injury. He is also a qualified acupuncturist, and will be bringing his needles along with him if you would like to find out for yourself what this ancient therapy is all about!
